Dudagoitia Barrio et al. 2023, plyometric jump training and running economy meta-analysis

Systematic review and meta-analysis of 18 studies (10 in the quantitative synthesis) examining the effect of plyometric jump training on running economy in endurance runners. Plyometric training alone produced a trivial effect on running economy (ES = 0.19), whereas combined plyometric-plus-resistance training yielded a large effect (ES = 1.34). Benefits were greatest with more than 15 sessions over more than seven weeks, practised more than twice weekly, and in younger, highly trained runners at faster velocities. Moderate evidence.
