Bonetti & Hopkins 2009, Sea-level performance after hypoxia meta-analysis

Sports Med 39:107-127. Meta-analysis of 51 studies. Estimated sea-level endurance-power gains were largest for natural LHTL: ~4.2% in sub-elites and ~4.0% in elites, smaller for artificial and LHTH protocols. The headline positive meta-analysis, but it uses magnitude-based-inference methods that are themselves contested, and the elite estimates carry wide confidence limits straddling zero (“possible”, not “likely”). Moderate, contested method; the anchor for the positive case.
