Arent & Landers 2003, Arousal, anxiety and performance

Re-examination of the inverted-U hypothesis linking arousal to performance. Supports a curvilinear relationship but argues the simple single-peak inverted-U is over-generalised, since the same physiological state is interpreted differently by different athletes; individualised models such as the zone of optimal functioning fit better. Contested (the generic inverted-U is too simple for individuals).
