WADA and USADA, anti-doping status of cannabinoids

The anti-doping status of cannabidiol (CBD) and other cannabinoids, from the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s plain-language guidance. WADA removed CBD from the Prohibited List effective 1 January 2018 (announced 29 September 2017), so CBD is permitted at all times, in and out of competition. CBD is the sole exception: all other cannabinoids, natural or synthetic, including THC, remain prohibited in competition. THC is the only cannabinoid with a urinary threshold, set at 150 ng/mL; the others are banned in any amount. Because CBD products are frequently contaminated with THC, an athlete using CBD can still fail a test, and anti-doping bodies explicitly warn that CBD products remain risky. A regulatory fact rather than an evidence-graded finding.
