Paige et al. 2017, Spinal manipulation for acute low back pain (systematic review)

JAMA systematic review and meta-analysis of 26 randomised controlled trials of spinal manipulative therapy for acute low back pain. SMT was associated with statistically significant but modest improvements in pain and function at up to six weeks, of similar magnitude to other recommended first-line care. Minor transient adverse events (increased pain, stiffness, headache) were common; serious harms were not found in the trials. Modest, short-term benefit for acute low back pain.
