Li et al. 2024, Effectiveness of recovery strategies in endurance athletes: umbrella review

Umbrella review of 22 systematic reviews and meta-analyses (63 studies, approximately 1,100 endurance athletes) examining recovery strategies after training and competition. The overarching conclusion was that no single recovery strategy can be consistently recommended to enhance recovery between training sessions or competitions in endurance athletes. Active recovery was addressed in only three studies and reduced blood lactate concentration compared with control, but no studies reported performance or perceptual outcomes for it specifically.
