Lakićević 2019, Alcohol consumption and post-resistance-exercise recovery — systematic review

Systematic review of 12 studies examining alcohol’s effect on recovery from resistance exercise. Acute measures of force, power, muscular endurance and soreness were largely unaffected in the 48-hour window, but cortisol rose and testosterone, plasma amino acids and muscle protein synthesis fell. The hormonal and anabolic disruption points to impaired long-term adaptation rather than immediate performance loss. Moderate.
