Anatomical study arguing the iliotibial band does not slide back and forth over the femoral epicondyle, so the classic ‘friction’ model is wrong. Pain is better explained by compression of richly innervated fat between the band and the bone. Moderate (anatomical reasoning, now the prevailing view).
