Shockwave therapy for tendinopathies around the hip and pelvis 2025 (systematic review)

Systematic review of extracorporeal shockwave therapy for tendinopathies around the hip and pelvis, including greater trochanteric pain syndrome (gluteal tendinopathy) and proximal hamstring tendinopathy. Both focused and radial ESWT reduced pain and improved function in greater trochanteric pain syndrome over the short and mid term, and there was moderate-level evidence that radial ESWT outperformed conservative care in proximal hamstring tendinopathy. Typical protocols were three to four weekly sessions of 2,000 to 3,000 pulses. Extends the shockwave evidence beyond the Achilles and heel to the gluteal and hamstring tendons that trouble runners.
