Cupping therapy in musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation 2022 (systematic review)

Systematic, evidence-based review of cupping therapy in musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation. The evidence for cupping on musculoskeletal outcomes ranged from very low to moderate across conditions. Cupping outperformed passive comparators such as no treatment or usual care, but the evidence was insufficient to recommend it as a standalone intervention for athletes. Adverse events (skin marking, haematoma, occasional increased pain) were generally minor. Weak, low-quality evidence consistent with a largely non-specific effect.
